When exactly did the lead singer from Def Leppard become a world class figure skater?

The US already has 6 Gold medals and 21 overall. Back in 1988, the US Olympic only won 6 medals overall. What happened?? Well it took the commitment of a person named George Steinbrenner who helped turn American fortunes around in the Winter Olympics. Say what you want to about George Steinbrenner(and I know this website is laden with Red Sox fans) but you have to give him some credit in this success as well. Please read article below.

Isn't basically just because of all the "X-Games" events that are now in the Winter Games?

Probably has more to do with the fall of Communism, and thus credit should be given to Ronald Reagan.

1 Soviet Union (URS) 11 9 9 28
2 East Germany (GDR) 9 10 6 25

These countries combined for 53 medals in 1988, and shortly after no longer existed.

one of the shifts I have to do, as mentioned in another thread, is news prompting which is a boring ass shift. There's no efficient way to do it, so basically there's a three hour gap in the middle of my shift, which tonight coincided with the game. I was hanging out in the Newsroom where the producers and anchors of Sportscenter and News put together the shows. Linda Cohn is a huge hockey fan and was shit talking Martin Brodeur before the game (She's a Rangers fan). Every time the US scored she would shit talk Brodeur, it was great.

True, the breakup of the USSR and the Eastern bloc has helped the US gain some prominence in the Winter Olympics. Let's give some credit to our current athletes though. It's now 24 total medals.

That hockey game last night was indeed bad ass.

Did any of y'all watch the Chezck Republic Russia game before that? It too was a great hockey game with a ton of HUGE hits. Team Russia is so bad ass. Fuck Sidney Crosby, Ovechkin is the best player on the planet.

I caught part of it. Jagr hadn't been hit that hard since Hal Gill roamed the blue line for the Boston Bruins.

Crosby is better. Tonight is the last round for ice dancing. US has a chance at gold. The female talent is the best of any olympic sport. I suggest you watch.

Speaking of her, apparently the gold medal skating dude used to date her and is currently dating Nastia Liukin.

Could have fooled me.

I don't watch enough hockey to know for sure either way, but from what I have watched the past two years, trying to determine which one is better is like trying to pick between Scarlett Johannsen and Jessica Alba on which celebrity sex tape you'd rather see.

The greatness of Ovechkin is that he can score and finesse people just as good if not better than Crosby. All while still being one of the meanest mofo's on the ice that isn't scared to knock the holy hell out of you. Something that Crosby won't do.

What a pesky little Swiss team.....An 18-4 shots on goal advantage has to bear some fruit at some point......unless you're Canada eh!!!
