Chuy's

Postby Mr. Peabody on Sat May 26, 2012 2:04 pm

Chuy's opened up here in Norman this week.

I know most of you have experience with Chuy's.

Any recommendations?

I'm tempted to try the fajitas.

I was not impressed with the cheese enchiladas.

I was told by a friend that the chicka chicka boom boom was really good.

Anything with green chile.

When you get your chips and salsa ask for a side of creamy jalapeño. You'll want to swim in it.

The chicka chicka is good.

Their cheese enchiladas are the worst. But matt is right: green chile anything and boom boom chicken enchiladas.

Like the creamy jalapeño... and the Deluxe Tomatillo, with chicken in either chimichanga, burrito, or enchiladas... They have some interesting sauces but all in all don't really care for the place compared to the alternatives we have here. They are weak on cheese, fajitas, chips, salsa, drinks, and service IMO.

Last time I was in Austin, I ate at El Mercado. It was close to the tailgate site. I thought it was very good.

El Mercado has a great upside down Mojito.

Probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in Dallas.

Lightyears ahead of Mi Cocina, Taco Diner and others.

I like Chuy's and all, but Blue Goose pimp slaps Chuy's in this hood, homie.

Not going to argue that BG > Chuys.

Yea, love Blue Goose. Eat there every year after OU/TX. Eat at the one off Beltline in Addisson. Their fajita beef has an excellent smoked flavor.

There are several places I'll go in Dallas over Chuys. And yes Blue Goose tops them all.

Wow, I'm in the minority on this one...

Definitely do not prefer Blue Goose over Chuy's.

Same with Uncle Julio's.

La Hacienda Ranch is pretty damn good and may be at the top of the list.

Is that last one a Dallas place, or a regional chain?

Agree with Leonard on Uncle Julio's, give me Gloria's over Chuys too. Also, love La Calle Doce in Oak Cliff.

I don't dislike Gloria's by any means, but it hasn't jumped out at me as anything terrific.
