Hahaha.

On a serious note.

That was just a lead in to this question.

Has anyone ever read Shawshank Redemption. As good as the movie is, the book would have to be spectacular. I'm thinking about reading it when I finish bram stoker's Dracula which is an amazing book.

Perhaps if you get Morgan Freeman to read it to you.

His narration made that film great.

Other great examples...
Million Dollar Baby
Dances with Wolves
Apocalypse Now
Double Indemnity
And...Forest Gump

It's a novella in the same anthology as The Green Mile, Stand By Me (which I think was just called "The Body") and one other story. My old roommate had it and I thumbed through it once, though I didn't read the whole 80-100 pages, or however long it is. I don't remember liking it as much as I liked the movie.

The Running Man reference reminds me what an outlier Shawshank Redemption is for both Stephen King and Frank Darabont.

Running Man and Green Mile were not in the Different Seasons book of novellas...

Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption
Apt Pupil (movie came out in late 90's I think)
The Body (Stand By Me)
The Breathing Method (a very odd lil story)

I was going to say, I'm pretty sure I read Green Mile in its own.

Green Mile was originally published as a serial. He put out a book that had about 4 or 5 chapters every few months. The end result was that you paid about $30 for the book if you read it that way.

Gotcha... I was off base on the Green Mile... I didn;t think Running man was in that, as it was a Bachman novel.
