Cowboys and Aliens (2011)...Movie Review, No Spoilers!

Postby oneputtlarry on Tue Aug 09, 2011 7:53 am

About a week ago, went to the early 10 AM matinee...first showing...theatre was packed!
For me, it was an entertaining sci-fi film...interesting storyline, a little creepy in places...quite graphic, but lots of action & special effects...something
you'd expect from Spielberg! Excellent cast with Oscar-worthy acting by Daniel Craig, in my opinion. The film will definitely remind you of several sci-fi films
from the past. Harrison Ford was very good as well...the guy never disappoints. There were some parts that were a 'stretch' so-to-speak...a bit far-fetched in
that it will remind you of an old western flick where the cowboy is riding alongside the runaway stagecoach and has to jump from his horse onto the runaway
stage horses. Of course there'll be critics that won't like the movie, but I was entertained. :-)
A little trivia: Robert Downey Jr. was set to play Jake Lonergan(Craig's role), but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

Have you ever seen a movie in which someone did not have an Oscar-worthy turn?
Your existence is not impossible, but it’s also not very likely.

Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959)?---No Oscar-worthy performances in this film.

Seriously, you are kidding, right?
If someone posts a movie review with "No Spoilers" in the subject line and then in their post suggests the movie is 'great'...that would be a "spoiler?"
Suggesting that a part is a 'stretch' so-to-speak or suggesting the film is 'great' doesn't give anything away...it's just one's opinion.

It was a failed bit and sarcastic attempt at humor, trying to point out that the very concept of Cowboys interacting with aliens could be considered a "stretch" in some systems...particularly in our own and especially on Earth, where I live.

Yeah, but it had Olivia Wilde.
