Kung Fu Panda 2 was pretty good.

In the absence of a Ranger playoff game or a Sunday Night Football game that I gave two tugs of a dead dog's dick about, I blew through my Netflix DVDs. Somewhere was a self-indulgent crapfest. I understand that Coppola was trying to evoke some kind of emotional response more than she was trying to tell a story, but nothing at all in this movie worked. Tons of shots that linger for way longer than they need to, precious little dialogue and a copout ending.

Also, is the lack of activity in this thread an indicator of the fact that right now, television > film?

Half of me thinks Drive was really, really good, half of me thinks it was bad. 10% of me thinks it was meh.

Win Win was the best movie I saw so far this year. Of the 6.

Really liked Drive. Thought Ides of March should have been a lot better. I don't remember seeing anything else.

I'll probably wind up seeing Ides of March and am really geeking out about Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy because I loved the book. Other than that, there's nothing on the horizon that I'm all that interested in seeing.

I was able to get past all of the leftist claptrap and found Ides of March entertaining even though it's nothing special.

1. Win Win
2. Ides of March
3. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

4. Somewhere

Went and saw Tinker Tailor Solider Spy today. I really enjoyed the book, but it didn't translate to film as well as I thought it would. Very talky.

I can't believe I've only seen 4 2011 movies. I used to see 4 movies a month.

I have The Adjustment Bureau out from Netflix. Is it actually worth watching?

Contagion 8/10
Moneyball 7/10
Ayn Rand: In Her Own Words 7/10
Bad Teacher 5/10
Tree of Life 4/10

I left out Moneyball.

Not gonna rank everything, but I'd consider these the best of what I've seen:

The Descendants
The Help
Moneyball

I'm managed to form an opinion regarding The Help without even seeing it. Very efficient of me!

I watched Moneyball today and thought it was ok. It was entertaining, but I didn't think it was nearly worth the accolades it has received. I like Jonah Hill. I think he's funny. There are hundreds of actors who could have pulled that role off as well or better and he's nominated for an Academy Award? Meh.

If I was ranking the best picture nominees (since it is Oscar season and all), and ranking by quality, I'd go:

Descendants
Hugo
The Artist
Midnight in Paris
Moneyball (last by a wide margin)

I enjoyed Midnight in Paris more than The Artist, but I thought The Artist was a brilliantly made movie, even if the plot kind of annoyed me and, as fantastic as his performance was, the main guy was kind of a douche and it bothered me.

Yes it was. Since you liked it, you should watch The Fighter. It is equally good.

Watched The Help today. Don't really have an opinion on it other than it made me REALLY hate white people.

Watched Limitless on Netflix streaming last night. It's not Shakespeare, but I was entertained.
