Matt- I hadn't thought of that. Funny.

Chay- I've DL'd a few tracks, and what I've heard doesn't really even live up to the stuff off of Brighter Than Creations Dark.

About a million levels of awesomeness in this video........probably the best track on the new Gorillaz CD, although I guess that's a bit subjective.

The New Pornographer's next album is due out in May. A song from it can be found here: The Link

I'm not sure I like this song very much after a couple of listens because it feels like the whole thing is building towards some big moment that never comes. Maybe it sounds better when heard in the context of the whole album.

"Crash Years," another song off the new album, is floating around out there, too.

Austin's own Quiet Company has a new EP on the way next month. They're throwing one track per week along with some "making of" video up on their site:

The Link

If you've never heard them, their previous album (Everyone You Love Will Be Happy Soon) is outstanding.

JT&NL's Atlantic(Fat Joe left where?) debut comes out Tuesday. It's already on Rhapsody, you can check it out here.

If Nine Inch Nails is your thing, then this is Trent Reznor's new effort.....along with his wife, and the producer that did a lot of work with NIN. As you might imagine, it's very NIN'ish.....which is fine by me.

Is there a way to receive email notifications (or a better way) to receive notice of the discount albums from Amazon (and any other sites if they are out there)? I'm sure I would buy more for $3.99 (or whatever the super-discount is), but I don't check Amazon every day....

They tweet these specials pretty frequently, if you're not averse to Twitter.

Based on what I've heard of the new Arcade Fire album, I will not be buying it.

I wasn't wild about AF's last album, but I may procure this one. "Suburbs" was much better than "Month of May," I thought.

So...

some new stuff I have been enjoying lately...

Matt Pond PA, The dark leaves
Delta Spirit, History From Below
Galactic, Ya-Ka-May
Nas & Damien marley, Distant Relatives

Before Leonard chimes in with one of his irritating comments, #1 and #3 have not been mentioned in any Shaggy threads.

Downloaded a few albums the other night that I read about on Shaggy... my favorite of the bunch is Best Coast - Crazy For You. It kind of reminds me of Camera Obscura, but not quite as full of a sound. It's more in the surf-pop realm.

Okay, so this album came out in February and I am just now hearing of them but whatever, I'm behind the times in a lot of shit. How great is it that football season is here?

I'm really liking Mumford and Sons Sigh No More.

This has been a prety shitty year for music. Here's my best of for 2010, unless I find something else that I really dig in the next month.

Black Angels - Phosphene Dream
Sarah Jaffe - Suburban Nature
Quiet Company - Songs for Staying In
She and Him - Volume Two
Broken Bells - Broken Bells
Bridges and Blinking Lights: Heroes, Guns and Snakes
Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

I liked the album The Toadies put out this year, but that's been floating around in various forms for 15 years or so, so it doesn't really count.

Huge disappointments of 2010:

1. Interpol
2. Old 97s
3. Arcade Fire
4. Belle and Sebastian
5. New Pornographers

Looking forward to in 2011:

1. New Shins?
2. New Decemberists
3. Possible new Deathray Davies album
4. New Quiet Company album

Thing from 2010 that I just don't get:

The new Girl Talk album.

I thought this was a pretty good year for music. In fact, my year-end mix will probably be four discs.

BTW... I had forgotten that Bell & Sebastian put out something new this year, and this thread reminded me to DL it. It's not as good as the last album, but I'm enjoying it after a few spins.
