Drew - Vampire Weekend has their new album up on their myspace page. I don't understand why anyone likes them.

I got tired of their old one pretty quickly, but there are still a few tracks I listen to on occasion. O tried to dl the album before leaving for CA, but it had already been removed. Can you listen to stuff on myspace if youdont have an account?

Thanks for the heads up, U2... After 1 1/2 listens I don't quite hate it, but I'm not really liking it either.

New Shins. The sound quality is horrible, but it sounds promising.

Speaking of the Shins, one of the 2010 releases I'm looking forward to is from Broken Bells, a collaboration between James Mercer from The Shins and Brian Burton (aka DJ Danger Mouse, of Gnarls Barkley fame). Their first single is all over Hype Machine.

Dr. Dog has a new album coming out in the Spring... haven't seen anything leak yet. Spoon also has one... I've never been a huge fan, but their 2007 album wasn't bad. In fact, there were a few songs I really liked.

My favorite new stuff lately has been from Surfer Blood, a band that kind of reminds me of both Weezer and the Deathray Davies.

Apparently they released a single that was really hyped late last year, but it's a 2010 album release (Astro Coast). I didn't much like the single - Swim, or somesuch. But a lot of the other stuff is good.

J. Cole, who was the first rapper signed to Jay Z's new label, and who opened for Hova in Austin last year, has his first album due out this year. I DLd one of his tracks, "playground," the other day, and I really dig it. He has a good flow and the track has a nice accompanying beat. You could probably find it on Hype Machine.

Missed this post the first time around. I just listened to their samples on iTunes. Sounds promising.

Speaking of the Deathray Davies, it appears that they are back and have a new album coming out this year. Hopefully it is better than their last two albums.

Also, outside of "Acts of Man," the new Midlake album is flat out boring.

I wasn't wild about The Trials of Van Occupanther, and I'm not much moved by the stuff I've heard on this one. It too much of the "slit your wrists" crap.

The new Gorillaz CD "Plastic Beach" is outstanding.......had really high expectations, and it certainly came through.......highly recommend it.

Having the collective works of either Blur or Gorillaz on your resume would be pretty impressive. The fact that Damon Albarn has both puts him pretty close to genius territory.

I'm sure all of you will be happy to know that Iron Maiden is opening their 2010 North American tour on June 9 at the Superpages.com Center in Dallas.

I downloaded a couple of songs by Broken Bells ("citizen" and "sailing to nowhere"). I enjoy the music of this group. I heard the music the other day in the Urban Outfitters store at North Park Mall. Used my shazam app to figure out the group and songs.

Broken Bells is good stuff.

I cannot stop listening to She & Him's new album, Volume Two. Zooey Deschanel just does something for me. If I had to put together a "best of..." list through the first three months of 2010, it would probably be number one. If not that, then Frightened Rabbit's Winter of Mixed Drinks. I was already digging it and then I saw them perform last week at the Mohawk. They put together a phenomenal set.

I was just listening to Broken Bells on iTunes and was wondering why they had a car alarm in their music and then realized that was coming from outside. Damn living at a mall.

The lead singer for Frightened Rabbit sounds like the guy from The Avett Brothers.

Drew have you given the new DBT a shot? I'm pretty gun shy on buying their stuff ever since Isbell left.
