Lunch Talk ONLY

A hit-or-miss hodgepode of hyperbolicism...

I need to keep up with this thread.

Last week:

Monday = Golden Corral (Not my choice!)

Tuesday = Western Sizzlin (Not my choice again! I had a salad. It's the same type set up as Golden Corral)

Wednesday = San Marcos (A good local Mexican family owned restaurant. They treat me right there. They always make me a special salsa out of ranchero sauce and gaucamole. Plus, they never charge me for it. The owner's son, Abel, has the all time pitching strike out record for 6A highschool baseball.)

Thursday = Cimmaron Steak House (Had one of their mesquite grilled hamburgers. It is delicious. Also had a salad with it and fries. All for just over 5 dollars. Great value.)

Friday = Sonic (Didn't have much of a choice. It was Field and Track day at the school. Sonic is the closest restaurant around the event)

Today = Charlestons (Had a salad and a hickory burger)

We eat at San Marcos at least once a week. Great food.

I tried Swadleys the other day. I heard bad things about it from a couple of friends but I really liked it.

I eat there at least once a week too. Usually it's more like 2-3 times. Great Service and great food. I ate there last week on May 5th in honor of Cinquo de Mayo (sp?).

What did you hear bad about Swadleys? I love that place. My only gripe is that it is too expensive. I know the owner of that place too. He gave me a really good deal on a catered BBQ for 300 people last month.

I had the T-Man at Bert's BBQ today... not bad... it's brisket, sausage and beans in the same bowl, topped with sauce. I wish I could have subbed turkey or chicken for the sausage... I'm just not a sausage fan anymore.

I'm not to fond of the name T-Man. There was a kid on our baseball team last year that had that name. All my hard earned fund raising money went to that little prick's uniform, to pay for his tournament fees, and to pay his trip to the World Series.

The wife calls today and doesn't have to go in to work this afternoon because the power is out at her building today.
So lunch is on the agenda.
Drive a couple miles from my office, see a cafe called The Snooty Pig.
Sounds funny, let's try it.

Go in, special today is: CFC, mashed potatoes, corn, 2 rolls AND cobbler (I had cherry, she had peach). All for only..............you ready...........$4.99!

Unbelievable! And it was excellent too!
I said to her "Cheaper than a drive-thru to-go meal, and better tasting, too."

I would highly recommend this place if you are ever in Keller for lunch.....

Speaking of lunch, my favorite thing to do at work is to eat lunch early or late, and work at my desk from Noon to 1:00. You can catch all of the people who play the game of calling you during the lunch hour, because they owe you a telephone call but they don't really want to talk to you. When you answer the call, there is usually 5-10 seconds of silence, then a lot of hemming and hawing, because the caller hadn't planned on what to say.

I just sit there laughing.

I know, it doesn't take much to amuse me, but if I couldn't have some innocent fun in this job I would have checked into the funny farm long ago.

I've eaten 10 taco salads in the last 3-4 days.

Tuesday lunch = 3 taco salads for lunch. (No they aren't huge or anything. The came in a rectangular paper tray.)

Tuesday night = 2 homemade taco salads

Wednesday = 2 for lunch. (Sameplace as the day before. They found my wallet in the chair and called me. I had $200 and some change. Nothing was missing. I honored them with another lunch visit.)

Wednesday night = 1 homemade taco salad.

Thursday lunch = 2 taco salads (different but very similar restaurant)

I did not eat chips with any of them.

Ate at Green Mesquite today... not bad. The turkey was excellent, and the brisket was better than I remembered. It had been a while. They have good potato salad, too.

Quizno's is indeed very good...but expensive.

Austin needs a Panera Bread so y'all can experience the greatness.

Not a fan of Panera.

Today I had Marie Callenders. I haven't eaten there forever. I was impressed with it. I really liked their salad bar. They had diced up tomatoes on it too. You don't see that very often.

Next week, I plan to hit the local hotels and try out some hotel food.

Delicious Gyro Salad with extra gyro meat. Akropolis makes the best.

They throw on lots of fresh olives, cucumbers, feta cheese, ripe red tomatoes, and banana peppers. Their gyro meat is better than most places for some reason.

Burps are powerful after eating gyro meat.

Wrigleys "Eclipse" gum sucks ass. Dentyne "Ice" kicks ass.

Did not know that. I'll have to go ask Brent about it. I had them cater a BBQ dinner for me a few months ago.

Where at in Moore? I wouldn't put a steak place in Moore.

I'm going to Ken's in Amber tomorrow night. Ever been there? Great steaks and ribs. It's a hole in the wall joint out in the middle of no where. They don't even have menus at the place.

It's going to be on telephone road where Taps BBQ used to be.
They will be serving ribs so it isn't strictly a steak joint.
