Entertainment Center Rec's(Flat-Screen Specific)

Postby Bucharest on Wed Mar 10, 2010 10:27 am

OK, so I'm closing on a new house on April 9th(Word.), and I'm finally going to have the wall space to hang my flat screens on the walls in my living room and bedroom. Right now, I have traditional entertainment centers that were made to hold those archaic TV's thicker than 2 inches. ;) With the TV up on the wall, I don't want all that wasted space with the current entertainment center, never mind that it just looks bad....I'd have to put a bunch of plants on it to help make it look better. Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations on where I can these smaller entertainment centers that could go under the TV, or possible towers that would hold all of my equipment off to the side. I have a couple of friends that have those, but they're not really made for this purpose....they're just bookshelves that now hold their PS-3's, receivers, cable box, etc., etc., etc.. With the influx and current domination by flat-screens in the TV market, there has to be companies/manufacturers out there building entertainment centers just for this purpose, and I figured some of you might have something along those lines, so I thought I'd check here first.

Thanks.

Check out crate and barrel and four hands. There are more consoles out now that aren't so old fashioned.

Depends on how big of a piece of furniture you want (and how much you want to spend), but we have a Sanus stand for our TV. We didn't have a blank slate though--our house's family room has a big wall cut-out that we had to put the TV in, so we had to find a stand that would fit in that space.

This was only $300. BDI makes very similar stuff for about 3x as much.

I actually went to Four Hands on Saturday......not an abundance of "Entertainment Centers" there, but they do have a bunch of sweet furniture....I love that place....can't wait for the next Warehouse Sale. That being said, I'll definitely check out Crate and Barrel this weekend and see what they got. Thanks.

Or you could still go with a huge deal like they carry at Pottery Barn

These are modular so you can pick and choose the pieces you want.

Oh yeah, definitely something smaller than that.......although I kind of like that bottom one, but it doesn't really match where I'm trying to go in the living room.

Yeah Crate and Barrel has some great stuff.

We got ours at a furniture store right across Woodward from Four Hands, but I don't remember the name of it. We've had it for three years now and it still looks great, and was a fraction of the price of some places.

I got a pretty sweet one at a unclaimed freight place last year. It's a little bit smaller than your common bedroom chester draw set would be. I'll try to find out what brand it is tonight.
